In a post or page:

• Highlight the word or address you want to become the link
• Click on the “Insert/edit Link” icon in the toolbar (looks like a chain link)
• In the “Link URL” box, delete the http://, and instead type in the following: mailto:youraddress@yourlibrary.org
• Type in a link title
• and Insert the link! WordPress generates the HTML code for you.

Doing this in a sidebar widget is a little different, because if you’re using a text widget, you have to write the HTML code yourself. Here’s what you need to do:

• Go to your Presentation –> Widgets page
• Click on the edit icon next to the text widget with your contact information in it. It will look something like this:
  
• You need to wrap the email address in a mailto anchor tag, as shown below.

One thing to keep in mind, is that this may not work the way you hope it will when people use it from a public computer. For mailto links to work, the computer has to be configured with the patron’s preferred email tool and account info. It will work great, most likely, for patrons using it from a home computer, though!
